Competition Rules
BANDS CRITERIAS
- All participating bands must include minimum of 3 members.
- All members should be 16 years of age or above
- Bands are allowed to share its members with other bands except for the vocalist.
- Bands are expected to perform within the cultural and social standards of the country and the organization reserves the right to disqualify any band which crosses over these limits.
MUSIC
- Bands are required to play their own original music, no covers will be allowed.
- The music performed must be live, no backing tracks and no recorded music will be allowed.
- Each competing band gets maximum of 20 (twenty) minutes of stage time; this includes the setup time and performance time.
- Each band should perform minimum of 03 (three) songs.
- Participating bands must have at least 30 minutes of original music.
- The Organizers have the rights to use the video and/or audio of the songs performed at all the stages of the Maldives Breakout Festival 2010. These materials will be used as promotional materials for the band and the festival as well.
INSTRUMENTS / EQUIPMENTS
- The Organizers would only provide a standard 5 piece drum set, standard guitar amps and a single kick pedal.
- Bands can bring their own amps, effect pedals, cymbals and cymbal stands, but have to be pre-informed to the Bands management team, and these instruments would be allowed on stage at their performance time only and no additional set up time would be given and those instruments must be clear off the stage once the bands performance is over.
- Drummers must bring their own stick and bass pedals if required.
SOUND CHECK
- Each band will get a maximum of 15 minutes as sound check time.
- The bands are required to be in the venue “ON TIME” for their sound check, with their full gears at times allocated for each band.
- If a band is late for its sound check, the organizers have the right not to give any additional time for the sound check.
- In case a band misses its sound check, the organizers have the right to negate that band from the sound check. And will have to perform without a sound check.
- Each band can bring one additional person (sound technician or an assistant), but they will only be allowed in to the venue at appropriate times only.
- A sound check meeting will be held with all the bands a week prior to the show .
